Title chapter: “Globalisation” and Related Key Concepts in Communication Studies: Findings of a Qualitative Content Analysis of Journals in the Field
Author: Stefanie Averbeck-Lietz
Keywords: globalisation, global communication, transnational communication, transcultural communication, mediatization
Abstract: This chapter takes “globalisation” as a term which is used by scientists and investigates how and why it is used. It also looked at what are the alternative and/or related terms? The research I conducted was a qualitative content analysis of the journals Global Media and Communication and Global Media Journal (Mediterranean Edition). The study was validated and extended in two student research projects at the Universities of Münster (2010/11) and Leipzig (2011/12), as I scrutinised several other journals.
